The Eve of the U.S. Tour

The U.S. tour begins tomorrow in Albany, NY. I'm going to attend the two New York city shows at the WAMU theater. My excitement is building. Can't wait.

In today's podcast, I pretty much gush and go on and on about how excited I am that the tour is starting. If you're in the U.S., I hope you are also scheduled to see Tori on the ADP tour.

The opening act, Yoav, sounds intriguing. You can hear some of his music on his myspace page. Beck meets Jeff Buckley meets Bjork. Sounds good to me.

Finally Finland

As Tori tours, clips from her performances are turning up around the net. There are a host of interesting clips on Youtube. I particularly enjoyed Tori's performances in Finland from June. Search "Provinssi and Tori Amos". Or "Finland and Tori Amos" and you'll find alot of cool clips.

In today's podcast, I discuss two insightful interviews with Tori. You can find them at Tingen.org and Popmatters

American Doll Posse brings out thought provoking themes regarding women and the state of today's world. Today's discussion includes the point that Tori raises: it's no longer solely that the personal is political, today - the political is personal!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to our favorite MILF. Today's issue of the UK newspaper, The Independent features an interview and great review of American Doll Posse. Tori talks about her daughter's influence on the new album.

Tori made a number of media appearances this week on U.S. television and satellite radio. She's been receiving some great reviews for American Doll Posse. I suggest two really good music references for you to check out, Allmusic and a terrific podcast, Soundopinions which recommends that everyone run out and buy Tori's new cd.

It's Getting Serious

It's getting serious - American Doll Posse comes out May 1st and Tori will be broadcast live on Sirius Satellite Radio that night. You can sign up for a free 3-day internet pass to Sirius at Sirius.com. And 80 lucky people who are first to buy American Doll Posse on May 1st at a certain Barnes & Noble in New York City will be able to attend the live show.

On today's podcast, I also discuss why you may want to re-read Pieces of Tori by Tori and Ann Powers. I also discuss a recent release by Patti Smith that features a cover version of a song that Tori once covered.

Loose Women

Watch out for Loose Women. Specifically, Tori appeared on a recent UK show on the telly called Loose Women. Very similar to the US gab-fest, The View. Do a search on You Tube and check out Tori chatting with the ladies and performing Velvet Revolution and Programmable Soda. Tori appears in her "Tori" persona, not as Isabel - which I mistakenly say on today's podcast.

Also check out the Big Wheel video available at Yahoo Music and You Tube as well as other places online.

You can win Tori merchandise by entering the following contests:

Countdown to May 1st

We're back! After a ridiculously long absence, Talking Tori returns.

In today's podcast, I discuss the upcoming release (on May 1st in the U.S.) of Tori's next work, American Doll Posse. It promises to be really interesting, with Tori making some strong political and social statements. I also talk about why you may want to pre-order American Doll Posse on iTunes (did I mention pre-sale codes for the U.S. tour?).

Finally, I comment upon Tori's recent defense of Britney Spears and her bizarre actions (Britney's bizarre actions that is, not Tori's!!!).
